PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friends of the Rappahannock Completes Major Reforestation Project at Echo Dell Farm

Fredericksburg, VA – April 2024 – Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) is proud to announce the successful completion of a major reforestation project at Echo Dell Farm, located on the banks of the Rappahannock River. In April 2024, FOR planted 200 trees on the property, marking the culmination of a years-long effort to restore and protect the land.

This latest planting was made possible by a grant from the Wetlands Watch and Virginia Outdoors Foundation (VOF) Coastal Resilience and Trees Fund. The funding has been instrumental in supporting the ongoing reforestation efforts at Echo Dell Farm.

Pamela and Larry Baldwin, owners of Echo Dell Farm, expressed their gratitude and pride in the collaboration with Friends of the Rappahannock. “We are proud to have been working with FOR since 2018 to reforest and protect our property. This final planting is the culmination of a process whereby over 16,000 trees have been planted across 50 acres at Echo Dell,” they stated.

The reforestation project at Echo Dell Farm is a significant achievement in the broader effort to enhance coastal resilience and promote environmental stewardship in the region. By planting trees, the project aims to improve water quality, increase wildlife habitat, and provide long-term ecological benefits to the Rappahannock River watershed.

Friends of the Rappahannock extends its deepest thanks to Wetlands Watch and VOF for their generous support and commitment to environmental conservation. This project would not have been possible without their funding and partnership.
