Description
Shumard oak is a medium sized deciduous of the red oak group. With age, this oak has a broad crown and can grow up to 100 feet in the wild. Shiny, dark green leaves with deep, spiny lobes develop a brownish red color in late fall. Acorns are not usually produced until 25 years of age. Shumard oak is great as a shade tree.
