Our Impact
40 Years of Making a Difference
Who is Friends of the Rappahannock?
Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) is a grassroots nonprofit started by a group of environmentally conscious people in 1985. We strive to advocate, restore, and educate for a healthy and scenic Rappahannock River.
FOR wouldn’t be what it is without the contributions of our volunteers and members for over 40 years. Our impact only continues to grow.
With your help, in 2024 we were able to…
Hours Donated by Volunteers
Students Reached with Watershed Education
Trees Planted in Urban Commuities
Oysters Installed in Oyster Reefs

Give Back to the River
Give back to the Rappahannock River! Make a one-time donation or become a sustaining member to support Friends of the Rappahannock's work across the watershed.
Rappahannock Report Cards
Friends of the Rappahannock created two Report Cards that share both grades of success and grades that need improvement when it comes to our tributaries and the Rappahannock River itself. These documents were created to give communities a better understanding of how they can protect this natural resource better.
