40 Years of Stewardship – A future of impact

For 40 years, Friends of the Rappahannock has been a leading voice for river conservation and stewardship. As we celebrate this milestone, we launch a capital campaign to revitalize our beloved headquarters, including:

• Accessibility Enhancements: Creating an inclusive space with ramps, widened doorways, and ADA-compliant restrooms to welcome everyone in our community.
• Sustainability Upgrades: Installing energy-efficient windows and lighting, improving insulation, and modernizing HVAC systems to reduce the building’s environmental footprint.
• Expanded Educational Capacity: Increasing the size of the first-floor indoor classroom by 50%, allowing more students to engage in hands-on environmental education annually.
• Land Conservation: Acquiring a 22-acre forested parcel to protect it from development, enhance outdoor classroom opportunities, and preserve the natural beauty of the Rappahannock watershed.
