Description

Friends of the Rappahannock is hosting two days of professional learning on June 25th and 26th. Day one includes Project Learning Tree’s Green Jobs and Southeastern Forests & Climate Change, and will be co-led by The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Registration is separate. Day two includes Explore Your Environment.

Project Learning Tree and the University of Florida developed this secondary module to help educators in the Southeast teach about climate change impacts on forest ecosystems, the role of forests in sequestering carbon, and strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to changing climatic conditions. Learn more about PLT’s Southeastern Forests & Climate Change here.

All educators supporting grades 9 through 12 are welcome to attend.

Event location will be held at Float on Farms. We will have water and bug spray, but please be prepared with a reusable water bottle, clothes appropriate for hiking outdoors, possible change of clothes if you choose to play in the river during breaks.  *Rain Location is the George Washington Carver Agricultural Research Center located at 9432 N James Madison Hwy, Rapidan, VA 22733.
