Tomorrow’s Trees brings the excitement of an acorn-driven scavenger hunt to an important restoration challenge: planting trees for clean water!
Tomorrow’s Trees is a people-powered seed collection initiative that creates future forests for healthy rivers and streams.
Volunteers from all over the Rappahannock River region can independently gather tree seeds from their communities anytime. The seeds you collect and donate will be nurtured and transplanted for use in FOR’s and the states’ riparian tree buffer plantings that help keep our river healthy!
Drop Off your acorns and tree seeds! HERE is your collection guide, all you to know to start collecting seeds! And HERE is a printable list of types of seed needed to be collected and tree ID guide.
Collect seeds using paper or sandbag breathable material, not plastic! Paper bags can be found in seed drop-off bins or bring your own.
- Collect Seeds – one bag for one tree! Please toss out/don’t pick up any rotting seeds. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
- Deliver seed-filled bag(s) to designated drop-off bins
- Fill out bag label (in drop off bin) and you’re good to go! All this info is SUPER important for us to continue this program

- Rappahannock Conservation Nursery – 9432 N James Madison Hwy, Rapidan, VA. Past main building and on the left hand side by our nursery
- FOR Middle Rapp Office – 3219 Fall Hill Ave, Fredericksburg VA. Outside front gate in the metal trash bin
- Pammy’s Produce – 715 S Church Ln, T appahannock, VA 22560
COLLECTION REMINDER: Due to restrictions against removing any material from National Park Service (NPS) land, you
cannot collect on NPS property. Get permission before collecting on any private property.
