Are you a paddler who is interested in exploring one of The Nature Conservancy’s beautiful preserves while contributing to community science? This may be the opportunity for you with two dates and locations to choose from!
August 22nd | 9:00am | Cumberland Marsh Preserve, New Kent, VA
September 12th | 9:00am | Voorhees Preserve, Colonial Beach, VA
Join TNC’s manager of the Chesapeake Bay Wetlands Program, Kati Booth, and get out on the water to learn about Submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), Bay ecology, and how to identify and collect important data. And enjoy fun paddling, exploring, and watching birds and other wildlife! Feel free to bring your binoculars along.
Attendees will need to bring their own canoe, kayak, or SUP and personal floatation device. These opportunities are geared towards individuals who have access to a watercraft and are interested in continuing to collect SAV data following the event.
