Hello, nature enthusiasts!
My name is Heather Strother and I am elated to have the opportunity to work as the York River Steward.
Through the collaborative efforts of Friends of the Rappahannock and Waterkeepers Chesapeake, this position was created to support initiatives throughout the York watershed on the ground directly and through outreach. I have a load of resources I look forward to sharing with you all on this website to maintain a healthy watershed, so keep an eye out for posts and scroll as you please!
As a Spotsylvania native, I have always loved being a part of the great outdoors. Whether that be hiking in the headwaters, taking a stroll along the fall line, or kayaking and fishing in the tidal region. Being a part of my community, especially through environmental action, has always been a passion of mine. I couldn’t be more thankful to grow in this watershed alongside wonderful advocates for the environment. I hope to connect with many of you in the future whether in the office, or my personal favorite, on the water.
Cheers!
