Outdoor Learning Lab at the River’s Edge: Week 1

September 16 - September 17


Join Friends of the Rappahannock environmental educators for interactive lessons at our nature preserve. Each program has different time slots. Register for the program at the day and time of your choice below.

STEM Design Stormdrain Filters: Grades K-5

Humans use water for many reasons. Use your engineering skills to design and create a stormdrain, then test it with probeware. Learn about the top pollutants in the Rappahannock River while discovering the importance of our storm drain systems.

Minimum age is 5 years old.

The following VA Science SOL objectives are covered during this program: K.1, K.5, K.11, 1.1, 1.3, 1.8, 2.1, 2.8, 3.1, 3.9, 3.11, 4.1, 4.5, 4.8, 5.1

Wonders of Water: Grades 4-9

How can we tell if our water sources are healthy? Experience how scientists test the water and investigate critters to determine the health of the water.

The following VA Science SOL objectives are covered during this program: 4.1, 4.4, 4.9, 5.1, 5.5, 6.1, 6.5, 6.7, 6.9; ES.1, ES.2, ES.6, ES.8, ES.10
