Thornton River Cleanup and Tree Planting

April 18 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Free

Join Friends of the Rappahannock, Sperryville Community Alliance, RappFLOW, and the Rappahannock County Garden Club for the Annual Sperryville Community Clean-up on the Thornton River. Scheduled for Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, volunteers will gather at the Headmaster’s Pub parking lot in Sperryville to plant trees and cleanup along the Thornton River which flows downstream into the Rappahannock River. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve water quality and the local environment throughout the community.

This year, the clean up day will include planting trees that not only improve the environment, but also beautify the community. This is a part of the “Rappahannock In Bloom” program led by the Rappahannock County Garden Club. This program will plant over 200 flowering trees in Rappahannock County this spring. Big thanks to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), Virginia Department of Forestry, Rappahannock County Garden Club, and amazing local donors for funding this project.
