Rapidan River Tree Planting Project
October 9 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pmFree
Join Friends of the Rappahannock on Wednesday October 9, 2019 to help us plant trees along a tributary to the Rapidan River on a farm in Orange County, Virginia.
The project is focused on planting trees to reduce erosion, protect water quality, and improve habitat for fish and wildlife.
Volunteers should please arrive at 9:30am at 13170 Marsh Run Lane Somerset VA.
We have all the materials needed including tools, gloves, plants, water, and snacks. We recommend bringing a hat or visor and a reusable water bottle. If you plan on staying past lunchtime, you can pack a lunch or visit a restaurant in nearby Orange, VA, 10 minutes away.
Conservation staff will be on the site to provide instruction on planting methods, safety talk, and to answer questions about the project and the larger restoration efforts taking place across the region.
All participants must complete and sign a WAIVER (link to waiver.) Any participate under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
There are multiple hiking trails, historic sites, wineries, and breweries just a short drive away which makes this a perfect part of a full day escape into the mountains!
If you have any questions please contact FOR restoration coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 540-373-3448 ext 115
This project is made possible thanks to our partners at Arbor Day Foundation, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and Piedmont Environmental Council.
