Plein Air Event on the Rappahannock River

Artists are invited to paint the Rappahannock River, to benefit the Rappahannock River.

Artists may choose to participate on either June 8th or 9th. Each morning’s event begins at 8 am at Darbytown Art Studio, 241 Charles Street, Fredericskburg, where paper or canvas will be stamped. Participants can also come in on Friday evening to stamp their canvas during First Friday June 7.

All paintings must be painted plein air, the day of participation, on either the Heritage Trail, or the Rappahannock River. Paintings must be returned to Darbytown by 2 pm the day of participation. Canvases must be ready to hang.

All registrations must be done online below. Deadline has been extended to either the 8th or the 9th.  One entry per artist, artist must provide own paper or canvas. 50% of entry fees will be donated to Friends of the Rappahannock.

Entries will hang at Darbytown Art Studio the following week, with a reception and awards presentation on June 14, from 6 to 9 pm. Art will be judged by Joseph DiBella, who will award first, second, and third place prizes, as well as honorable mentions, and a People’s Choice Award.
