From the Rappahannock, for the Rappahannock – CANCELED

April 5 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$20 – $25
People on hay ride, oysters on grill, people on field listening to talk

Due to COVID-19 and the decision of other groups to cancel events for the next several weeks, we must cancel this event.

This event is a favorite of ours as it provides a unique opportunity to showcase a wide span of conservation projects that help our Rappahannock. We are disappointed that we cannot hold it this year. We look forward to a new date in 2021.

Join us for an afternoon at the iconic Marriott Ranch in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains to learn about conservation as you enjoy fresh oysters, barbecue, and local beer and wine.

Take a hayride through this working farm along the Rappahannock River to see first-hand how Marriott Ranch has used on-the-ground restoration practices to protect water and improve the health of their cattle.

Staff from a variety of conservation organizations will also be available to answer questions and talk about local and regional environmental issues, land conservation, riparian buffers, and cost-share programs available to landowners and farmers.

Event hosted by: Friends of the Rappahannock, The Piedmont Environmental Council, and the John Marshall Soil & Water Conservation District

At the event, you’ll find…

  • Rappahannock River oysters & catered barbecue from Marriott Ranch
  • Local wine & beer from the Piedmont region
  • Live music
  • Hay ride tours of the property showcasing farm conservation practices
  • Fish shocking demonstrations Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries

Ticket includes lunch and two drink tickets for wine or beer.
