Free

Register in advance for free trees and shrubs! Plants will be available for pick-up on March 27th between 8 am – 12 pm at Fredericksburg Nationals Ball Park (42 Jackie Robinson Way, 22401). Select your trees below.

ONLY RESIDENTS OF 22401 zip code can register starting on Feb. 24.

Starting March 1, registration is open to everyone.

This Tree Giveaway is hosted by Tree Fredericksburg, Friends of the Rappahannock, Bartlett Trees Research and We Plant Trees.

Trees strengthen our community by increasing property values, making public spaces more livable and improving our environment. This native tree giveaway is made possible by grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Arbor Day Foundation, and Trees Virginia.

This tree giveaway is limited to five plants total (whether trees or shrubs) per family. Limit of 1 dogwood tree per order.  Pre-registration is required. All trees are 1 gallon size and are a species native to the region. Please carefully read the “Important Notes” section below and register for your choice of trees using the form at the bottom of this page.

Tree pick up is from 8 am – 12 pm. All leftover trees and shrubs will be available on a first come basis from 12:45 pm – 2 pm while supplies last.

Native trees help our environment and our community in numerous ways, including:
Sequester carbon to improve air quality
Regulate temperatures in our urban environments
Increase property values in our neighborhoods
Catch and filter polluted stormwater before it enters our local streams
Stabilize soils and stream banks preventing erosion
Provide valuable forage and habitat for fish and wildlife

Important notes and rules for giveaway:
-Limit 5 plants per family, only 1 dogwood per order
Masks must be worn at all times during pick up.
-If you cannot pick up your trees yourself, you may send someone to pick them up for you
-Moisture meters are for sale at a wholesale price of $5 at the event. More trees and plants die from drowning and overwatering than underwatering. A moisture meter is an essential tool to have the best success for your trees.
-Consent for Tree Inspection. Due to grant requirements, all trees given away must be tracked and reported for the Chesapeake Bay Cleanup Program. By receiving a tree, you agree to provide photo documentation of your planted tree.
-Right Tree, Right Place. To maximize the chances that your tree will survive and flourish in its new home, and to minimize the risk of property damage or other inconvenience, it is important to select the right species for your property.
