Summer is coming to a close which means it’s time to head back to the classroom!

Back to School also means back to Friends of the Rappahannock and our awesome education programs for local students.  We are excited to welcome schools back to our property for all of our educational programs. During the upcoming school year, we are offering options to fit a variety of curriculum needs and school district guidelines.

Our most popular program is called “At the River’s Edge”. This interactive program provides students, from Preschool through High School, a variety of outdoor science and history education opportunities. These field trip programs are offered entirely outdoors at our 17-acre riverside preserve in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

We create programming that caters to each grade level’s classroom objectives. Our programming gives teachers and students a safe, fun, hands-on experience that will inspire respect and stewardship for the Rappahannock and its watershed.

Descriptions of our programs can be found HERE!  At the River’s Edge programs are available to public and private schools as well as homeschooled student groups.

Are you interested in working with us but unable to schedule a field trip this year?
We are able to take several of our educational programs on the road and deliver them on your school grounds. Let’s work together to develop an outdoor experience at your school. Bringing the River to you is done on a case by case basis, so please reach out to see if your school can receive this kind of programming.

If you have any questions, or would like to register your students for one of our field trips or at-school educational opportunities, please contact us at [email protected].  We look forward to seeing your students this year!
