Friends of the Rappahannock has created more of the extremely popular Nature Adventure Packs (NAPs) with the help of the Fauquier Health Foundation. The Fauquier Health Foundation strives to enhance the health and vitality of the communities within Culpeper, Fauquier and Rappahannock counties.

FOR has been fortunate to receive funding from the Foundation’s Make It Happen! program. This fund supports programs that foster a “can-do” attitude and motivate the community to make it
happen, which we love to do!

NAPs are nature-themed backpacks filled with tools for exploring the outdoors, books, field guides, activities, all while learning how to stay safe. The packs are made for kids of all ages and can be used
with family, friends, groups or schools. Each of the NAPs has a different theme, including rocks,
wetlands, forests, rivers and more. With each pack comes a range of activities, including bird
identification, creating habitats and exploring the outdoors. Use them anywhere from your backyard to a National Park.

Thanks to the Fauquier Health Foundation, there will now be packs at the Culpeper, Fauquier and Rappahannock county libraries. They are also circulating in the Caroline, Central Rappahannock Regional, Lancaster, and Richmond county libraries. We are working our way to all of the
counties in the Rappahannock River Watershed. So, go ahead, check them out and start exploring!
