Rappahannock River Clean-Up
|
9am-1pm
Old Mill Park |
Each spring and fall, 500+ citizens join us in cleaning trash out of our river, streams and nearby lands. Join us for this family-friendly event. We will provide supplies, site map and lunch - be prepared to drive to your site. And if you have a truck, bring it to haul trash back to our dumpster at Old Mill Park.
REGISTRATION
Your registration helps us calculate how many supplies and lunches we need.
All participants must sign our Liability Waiver Form. All participants under 18 must have a Liability Waiver Form signed by a parent/legal guardian. If you are with a youth group, please download copies for the youths' parents to sign prior to the event. Bring the signed form to check-in at Old Mill Park.
All participants under 18 must have at least one chaperone on site during the cleanup.
For Groups: one adult is required per every ten youth under the age of 18.

Weather Information: If the weather in the morning is extreme (for example, lightening & thunder), we may cancel. In the event of a cancellation, we will email registered participants by 8 am on April 28th and will post the information on our website (www.riverfriends.org).
Lunch: Registered participants will receive lunch at Old Mill Park. We often have pizza, sandwiches or burgers.
Beverages: Please bring your own reusable water bottle to reduce litter and waste. We will have water coolers available to fill up your bottle.
Check-In and Clean-up Process: At check-in at Old Mill Park, we will ask you for your final group number size and how many lunches you will need. If you have a large group, please only send a few representatives through the check-in line when all of your party has arrived. You then will receive supplies (e.g., gloves, site map directions, and trash bags). Be prepared to drive to your clean-up site - we only have 2-3 sites that are within walking distance. Most sites are only a 5-15 minute drive from the Park. If you have a truck, this will be helpful in transporting the trash back to Old Mill Park. At Noon, return to the Park for lunch!
What to Wear: Dress for the weather! Sturdy shoes are also ideal (tennis shoes, boots) - sandals and flip-flops are NOT recommended.
