Fly Fishing 101

Join Friends of the Rappahannock and the Falmouth Flats Fly Fishers on Aug. 15 for an introduction to fishing and fly tying on the Rappahannock River. Meet at Cossey Pond off Littlepage St. along Fredericksburg's Canal Path at 9 a.m. and the course is scheduled to end at 12 p.m. Bring snacks, water, and bug spray! FOR provides all the other necessary gear. All ages are welcome. The backup date is the next day. The cost is $15 individual/ $45 per family of four ($12/$36 for FOR members).

Moonlight Paddle

THIS TRIP IS SOLD OUT.  Join Friends of the Rappahannock July 10 for a Moonlight Paddle on the Rappahannock River. Float in kayaks from Old Mill Park to City Dock with trip leader Michelle McGinley and learn about local ecology and how the river has influenced American history. Meet at City Dock (207 Sophia Street) in downtown Fredericksburg at 7:30 p.m. We will shuttle up to Old Mill Park for the launch and end back at City Dock about 10 p.m. Bring snacks, water, bug spray and flashlights! FOR provides kayaks and safety gear.
