The 2016 William and Denise Micks Environmental Studies Scholarship has been awarded to Margaret “Maggie” Magliatio, a rising senior at the University of Mary Washington. Maggie is the daughter of Mike and Nancy Magliato of Purcellville, Va. She is majoring in biology and environmental science and is active with groups fostering environmental sustainability on campus. Maggie participates in spring bird counts on the Rappahannock River, supported by FOR and the Virginia Outdoor Center. Her latest project involves installing educational signs on campus about the importance of pollinator plants and supporting native insects. This $1,000 scholarship is made possible by generous donations from members and founders of FOR, including former UMW faculty
