On March 16, 2017 the Trump administration released their budget for Fiscal Year 2018, which recommends that the entire $73 million budget for the Environmental Protection Agency’s Chesapeake Bay Program be eliminated and shutdown.
Partners came together on March 12, 2017 for another #RappRiverCleanup in the Fredericksburg area.
On March 5, 2017, Friends of the Rappahannock (FOR) joined volunteers from Common Ground Church to dive head first into the upper portion of the Rappahannock Canal, Canal Path, and Snowden Wetland for our first #RappRiverCleanup of 2017!
We had 22 volunteers of all ages come out to spend the day Serving the City and cleaning up the Rappahannock River. We found all kinds of crazy stuff in and around the canal including a shopping cart, street signs, plastic bottles, beer bottles, newspapers, single use plastic bags, couch cushions, and tennis balls galore!
