Karen has worked with Friends as an Environmental Educator since 2002. With over 20 years experience as an elementary school teacher, Karen enjoys teaching young students about the Rappahannock experientially through our field-based programs. Karen holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Asbury College and also a kindergarten endorsement. Currently when she is not working at Friends, she substitutes as a teacher for Spotsylvania County, volunteers at Harrison Road Elementary School, and serves as a Deacon at her church. Karen also is a Girl Scouts Brownie Leader, and recently organized a “River Education and Service” day at Friends’ Education Center for over 80 girl scouts (ranging from 5 to 16 in age).
